NERC Saving the Rainforest

NERC - Saving the Rainforest environmental documentary

International filming is always an exciting prospect and we loved capturing the awesome expanse of the Brazilian rainforest for this environmental documentary commissioned by the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).  This was one of a series of films that were featured at NERC’s prestigious Impact Awards in London.

This case study features Dr Cristina Banks-Leite, a NERC funded scientist working to protect natural habitats in South America. Project management included arranging visas, fixers, travel and filming permissions in Brazil.  Despite a quick turnaround for this commission, we were able to provide a film crew, drone operator and kit and meet the budget and schedule.

Our animators also collaborated with Cristina to clearly and concisely explain key elements of the study and highlight the impact of her findings, using mixed media animation.  This was combined with interview, b-roll, slo-motion, crane shots and an epic soundtrack to great effect.
