UKRI– RRS Sir David Attenborough Launch Event
One of our favourite Launch event videos was covering the RRS Sir David Attenborough (SDA) launch event. The SDA is one of the most advanced polar research vessels in the world. It was commissioned by NERC, built by Cammell Laird and operated by British Antarctic Survey.
UK Research and Innovation commissioned us to produce a suite of live-action and animations to accompany the official naming ceremony.
Part of this project was to create four live-action videos covering a range of subjects including ship’s construction, onboard science, careers opportunities and life onboard. We used existing footage combined with new footage captured at a hectic media day, where our camera crew had to think on their feet and capture high-quality footage despite tight time constraints.

UK Research and Innovation asked us to create a series of animations to be released in the run up to the launch of the new RRS Sir David Attenborough.  We worked closely with the British Antarctic Survey to create the animations which were shown on social media channels to educate the public about the new research vessel and the role it will play monitoring climate change in the Antarctic.

Subjects covered in the series included ‘Life on Board’, ‘About the Ship’ and this one about wildlife in the polar regions –
